Talks
Marshland can offer speakers for meetings of all size, length or sex\age makeup.
A number of ' off the peg' talks are available although if there is any subject specifically required we can probably adapt a talk or write a new one.
Talks can be humorous, serious or in most cases a mixture of the two.
They can be delivered in lecture style or with invited particpation from the audience.
Our speakers have backgrounds including Essex Police, Nursing , Teaching and Local Councils and expertise in areas such as drama, sport, bullying, personal safety, local and family history
We can also provide professional activities such as organising Question Time type activities, structured debates or role play drama activity within groups.

- Life in Essex Police when Policemen still walked the beat - A humorous account of the first three years in the 1960's police of a naive country boy.
- Life in Essex from 1900 to 1930 ilustrated by old photographs
- Country Sergeant - Anecdotes from time spent as a Sergeant in charge of a large rural beat in Essex
- The Generational Gap - An examination of the generation gap old and new through the saying - It wasn't like that in my day.
- Nurses in big hats - Anecdotes from time spent and as a SRN in a busy Essex Hospital in the 1970's.
- The History of Eastern Essex - Life in the Dengie 100 since Prehistoric time
- My Family the easy way - Basic steps in researching your family history
- It's Christmas Time - The story behind many of the Christmas Tradition
- What would you do if? - Short scenes are acted out finishing at a point stimulating discusion eg you see someone drop a £20 note.
- Crime prevention for older people - A serious talk on ways that older people can protect themselves from crime and disorder.
- Drugs/Alcohol - Several talks are available on drugs an alcohol. Young people known all about them, there are references on TV and music. The talks are designed to bring people up to speed with the local scene.
- Bullying - Several talks are available .
- Talking Karaoke - The audience choose a series of short different talks from a list provided
Cost of talks
Marshland's business ethos has service to people as its core and as part of this ethos subsidised talks are available for Charitable or not for profit organisations that will bring costs down to those often charged by outside speakers.
Normally costs of talks provided by one person for not for profit organisations will be £25 plus a contribution to travelling costs.
The speakers are based at Burnham on Crouch, Maldon and Chelmsford.
Where more than one person is requested the costs may be higher.
Microphone and sound amplification and any materials are included within the cost of the talk.
Commercial Organisations will be expected to pay normal Marshland fees.
Commercial Sponsorship
Facilities exist for commercial organisations to sponsor Marshland to provide talks and other input free of charge to groups that will promote an activity of interest to that organistaion.
Any such promotion will be carried out openly and only with the express permission of the organisation receiving any presentation.
