Royal Connections

 

Many people dream that they will find Royalty amongst their ancestors although most people merely find generations of farm labourers.

There are several sites that help find out if you are related to Royals.

The first of The Peerage which contain details of British and European Royals and is searchable by surname.

Burkes Peerage concentrates on British Royals , important families and prominent people.

This index is fully searchable.

Most people with royal connections carry the story through generations if the connection is in the past 200 years.

Going back further than that is a difficult task but people do still come up with a previously unknown royal connection although this is mainly in the case of legitimate noble children who were well down the succession list or for illegitimate children, who seemed quite common for Royal Princes and Nobles.

Generally it is a waste of time choosing a Royal and following their lineage to modern day in the hope of finding an ancestor somewhere on the route.
