National Burial Index

The National Burial Index is a project undertaken by many of the Family History Societies in the UK to make all of the burial records from the churches of the UK available to the public..

The national index is available on CD from software vendors and local burial indexes for many of the English counties are available from local Family History Societies.

The current version ( March 2010) is NBI 3 costing about £30.

Although searching is not possible on line many vendors display the numbers of listing from each parish to give an idea of the content for the area that interests you.

Sometimes copies are available second hand from people who have used them for their family history research and no longer need them.
