LRO - Local Birth, Marriage and Death Registration

The History

Local Registration Offices are spread throughout the country providing bases for the Registrars to actually complete the recording of all Births, marriages and Deaths.

They work under the auspices of the General Registration Office (GRO)

Copies of Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates can usually be obtained from a LRO but only in respect of certificates issued by that office.

There is a reasonable fee for this service.
