The History
Confirmation is usually the process of a young person or an adult making a commitment to a particular church.
The majority of churches believe in confirmation although it may be called by a different name eg Chrismation in the Roman Catholic Church.
Often the cofirmation is heard by a high officer such as a Bishop and the event is recorded in church records.
A certificate of confirmation is usually provided to the person confirmed.
What records can you find?
Confirmation is entirely religious ceremony and as such has never formed part of official records.
Confirmation records are often found in County Records Offices although occasionally they have been retained by the relevant church.
