Brushmaking Industry Records |
|
The History Brushes were an everyday item of life that required great skill to make before the advent of modern machinery. Brushmakers were initially one man businesses although with time they grew into factories with many employees producing brushes. .What records can you find?
The Working Classs Movement Museum at Salford maintain the archives of trade union records including the brushmaking unions. A personal visit or hiring a researcher would be required as the records are not yet online. * The Society of Brushmakers Dependants has some data on the site but is a great place to go for advice. County Records Office and Local Museums both hold records of relevant firms and individuals. Searches should be made firstly by the individual persons name, then by the firms name and lastly by the trade.
