A hunting we wil go

Barbara Allen

Come landlord fill the flowing bowl

Down among the dead men

Drink to me only

Early one morning

For He's a jolly good fellow

Hearts of Oak

Lincolnshire Poacher

Oh dear what can the matter be?

Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag

Sally in our alley

The animals went in two by two

The British Grenadiers

The farmers boy

There is a tavern in the town

What shall we do with a drunken sailor

Songs and Poems were an important part of life.

Singing was a normal part of life amongst many working men as evidenced by the large number of foll songs archived with stories relating to life on the land or at sea.

In days before radio and television songs were a primary form of entertainment bringing pleasure into drab lives.

Books were much more scarce than in moderen times being comparitvely much more expensive.

The most popular book was the bible with poetry one of the most popular form of book.

Many children memorised long poems that were recited to friends and relatives.
